Ann Swadener, MSW, LSWAIC

Master of Social Work, Licensed Associate Independent Clinical Social Worker

Location(s): Everett & Lynnwood

Welcome! At Cedar Valley Counseling, I provide therapy to individual adults, children and teenagers who are seeking support working through experiences of depression, trauma, anxiety, life transitions, maintaining recovery from an eating disorder, grief & loss, relationship distress, self-esteem and more. I am located at Cedar Valley Counseling’s Lynnwood and Everett locations.

I use Person-centered theory as my foundation in therapy. Empathy, unconditional positive regard and genuineness are cornerstones for everything I do. I also draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral therapy, Motivational Interviewing and more to fit my client’s needs in therapy.

I believe in forming a trusting relationship with my clients and meeting them where they are. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives. No one knows what they need the way they do. My role is to come alongside and assist my clients on developing stronger self-awareness, coping skills, core beliefs, and more.

I use humor when and where it is appropriate because I find humor to be a saving grace and positive coping skill in life. I am excited for the opportunity and honor to be a trusted advocate in my client’s lives.

I have a Master of Social Work from Eastern Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado-Boulder. I have experience counseling children and teens as well as adults and families of all ages. I have experience working with ADHD and eating disorder recovery and more. I care deeply about cultural diversity, social justice, LGBTQIA and so much more. I was once told that my super-power was caring.

I am a mother of two adult kids. I find the experience of parenthood/motherhood to be one of growing through pain and triumph and everything in between. I love nature and animals. I have a hummingbird feeder in my yard, and I can watch those flying wonders for hours. They give me hope and make me laugh.
