I have been a licensed mental health counselor since 2009, and this is my 2nd career. After graduation in 2006 from Seattle School of Theology & Psychology, I did my internship and then worked for the YWCA in Snohomish County. I have been in private practice since 2011, and I work with adult individuals who are experiencing anxiety, grief, depression, relationship issues and concerns regarding one’s faith, religion or spirituality.
I am integrative in the way I work with my clients, which means that I combine ideas and strategies from more than one theoretical approach. I believe that some issues can have a physical component; in such cases, medical consultation will be advised. My training is in counseling psychology, so I will try to help my clients understand the psychological defenses that get in the way of one’s happiness and success. If a client is experiencing grief and loss, I will walk with them through that dark valley. I do not consider myself an expert on my client’s life, but I do know that our therapeutic relationship will be a foundation for the counseling work. I offer my clients a safe place to look at, and process, their story. One of my goals as a mental health counselor is to help each client find more peace and joy in life, whatever the client’s circumstances.
I am married and have grown children. My personal interests center on reading (fiction, psychology and spirituality), gardening, travel and spending time with family or friends.
