Welcome! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate and I am here to support you. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I believe in meeting my clients where they are at in their life journey. Regardless of age, I approach each of my clients as the individual that they are and work with them collaboratively to be sure they are getting what they need out of therapy.
The younger populations can sometimes find going to a therapist an anxiety provoking experience. I use art and play therapy with children and adolescents to help sooth these anxious feelings by creating a safe, comfortable space for us to get to know each other. Talk therapy is always available and is utilized when appropriate.
If you are at a stage in your life where you feel you could use some assistance please do not hesitate to call. Therapy is optional and may be discontinued at any time. It is important to feel you are in control of your life. I believe in being a therapist that does not dictate where my clients go but rather walks alongside them to assist them in moving toward their ideal self. Feel free to come in for an appointment. I have a relaxed style that creates a comfortable environment for my clients.
I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota and my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University in San Diego, California. I completed my practicum at San Diego Hospice and the Institute of Palliative Medicine where I worked with individuals, groups, and families as a bereavement counselor. I worked in private practice for 3 years as an independent contractor at Cedar Valley Counseling before taking a couple years off to be with my children. Now I am back and rejoining Cedar Valley Counseling under the supervision of Angela Olson, MA, LMHC.
I hope to hear from you soon!
