Andrea Gould, MA, LMHCA

Master of Arts, Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate

Location(s): Lynnwood

Hello and welcome. I’m Andrea and I grew up here in the PNW where I am also now raising my own children. I first became interested in mental health when I was working in the public school system. While there, I noticed a great need for resources and services for students whose academic performance was influenced by their mental health. This eventually led me into earning a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have been in the mental health field for over 3 years where I have worked with people struggling with eating disorders. I also have experience working with people challenged by anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, past abuse, bipolar disorder and chronic stress.

I view counseling as being there along side you as you explore and process what is most urgent in your life. I am committed to listening to your story and offering a safe space for you to be your authentic self. Additionally, I believe counseling is a collaborative process where we work together to decide what is needed and best for you. With that, you are always in control of the direction you want to go in counseling. I will not push you to talk about something you do not wish to speak about. However, I will challenge you in your limiting beliefs and behaviors as I see them. I am here to help you grow and to overcome the challenges that brought you to counseling.

The style of counseling I provide stems from many different theoretical frameworks. I draw from the theories of Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solutions Focused, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I will explore your past to understand the patterns and beliefs that you hold in the present. I use various tools within counseling sessions such as imagery, relaxation techniques, and breathwork to help you towards a place of calm and clarity. While I use various different methods and techniques in sessions, I will always honor what is best for you and your goals in therapy.

I work mainly with adults who are needing help with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, high sensitivity, past abuse, trauma, co-dependency, and others. I am passionate about helping people become more self-aware, resourceful, and empowered in their lives. It is truly a privilege to listen to people’s stories and help them heal or find relief from suffering.
