The coronavirus pandemic affects more than just physical health—it’s also making an impact on mental health. With the absence of normal routines, you may notice you start to feel down or “off”. These could be signs of clinical depression.
Depression can wear many faces. For some clients, feelings of deep sadness, low energy, and a sense of hopelessness may be prominent. Others may experience irritability, difficulty eating and sleeping, and a defeatist attitude.
Some people address their symptoms through talk therapy, improved diet and exercise, increased boundary settings, and learning to express their thoughts and feelings appropriately. We find some clients also benefit from antidepressant medications. Everyone is different, so trying one or more of these methods to see what works best for you is recommended.
