Hello! My name is Karen Aparicio, and I am a counseling intern working towards a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a child and adolescent specialization through Northwestern University.

Therapy can be a complex and emotional process. As your counselor, I will help you navigate this experience by meeting where you are in your emotional development, providing unconditional positive regard, and validating and affirming your unique gifts. I work with trauma, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, significant life transitions, and substance abuse recovery.

When working with children and adolescents, I am passionate about helping them feel understood and heard. My goal is to provide them with ways to process their feelings and help them make sense of their emotions in a safe and caring space. Together, your child and I will work to cope with trauma, depression, anxiety, and other barriers to good mental health so they can reach their potential and thrive in their relationships with themselves and others.
